Nightmare probate

My husband and I had been in TX a short time, when he died. I hired Mr. Youngkin on a suggestion from an acquaintance, and I had to go back to OR after the court appearance. I soon realized he wasn't doing his job to get documents filed on schedule; at first, I wondered if he had ever done a probate...; I had to help him do research (I used to be a paralegal); he delayed and delayed until the court threatened to start all over; some of the heirs sued me; after nearly 4 years, the court threatened to arrest me for not having the estate dispersed. Had I not been ill with MS, I would have gone back to TX to get it done. I had told him in our first conference that I had MS and it could present problems. He seemed sympathetic in our meeting, but I later realized he only wanted to drag out the case as long as possible to garner as much money as possible...he didn't care if the stress killed me.....at one point, I thought it would.

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
