Betty Burke Uzee

Betty Uzee practices in the area of labor and employment law with an emphasis on employment litigation, employee benefits, insurance coverage and litigation, and civil litigation. Her employment litigation practice involves representation of employers in all aspects of litigation and administrative proceedings involving claims of discrimination, harassment, retaliation, benefits, wrongful termination, family and medical leave, wage and hour, and immigration issues. Ms. Uzee counsels employers in the preparation and review of employment contracts, severance agreements and employee policies. Ms. Uzee also advises clients on human resource issues and she often speaks at presentations sponsored by the firm on employment topics.

Ms. Uzee represents clients in federal and state litigation, as well as in administrative proceedings before the EEOC. She has defended lawsuits involving wages, retaliation, workplace harassment, and discrimination claims based on age, gender, disability, race, national origin, and religion. She has also represented clients in litigation involving other forms of business disputes. Her client representation has spanned many industries, including construction, public utilities, package and freight delivery, financial services, fueling, industrial equipment, insurance, real estate, retail, software/technology, educational institutions and governmental agencies.
