When the doctor sent Mom to a skilled nursing facility to recover from a fall, he suggested that she might not be able to return home. As family, we went into a crisis mode. Mom is 96 years old and has been living independently with financial limitations. We knew we needed to help her so that she... could have the care she needed. It was necessary to avoid delays and hopefully our own financial devastation. MediCal Long Term Care and Veterans Aid Attendance applications are cumbersome, to say the least. They require completion of numerous forms, proper response to many confusing questions, and provision of supportive documentation. Without these, the result could be denial. The whole process can all be quite difficult for an elder and family. Barbara Bangs provided the help we were looking for. It was amazing to see her knowledge, experience and compassion at work for us. She guided us through the complicated application processes and is readily available to answer any questions and concerns.
