I contacted Shapiro Law Group on Monday regarding a serious employment issue. I was immediately scheduled that day with a phone call with Attorney Anna Shapiro . After a brief phone conversation, I felt comfortable and secure in then scheduling a consultation to discuss my concerns more in depth. The... meeting was scheduled on Wednesday and I had emailed her all my documentation pertaining to my employment. She allowed me to explain in depth my concerns regarding my job and the pressures I had been experiencing while at the same time undergoing medical treatments. She asked me questions for clarification purposes but was quickly able to explain what my rights were and options I could take to protect myself. She had a solid grasp of employment rulesabd regulations and I felt a huge weight liftedthat I was speaking with someone who understood what I was experiencing and going through. I will definitely be back in touch with her if my employment situation dies not improve !

I was recently laid off and in a vulnerable situation. I strongly felt that this practice took advantage of it and I got jipped. A reasonable attorney would charge contingency based only on the amount by which they help to increase severance payment. However, unfortunately that was not the case. ...This practice based the contingency on what I was already being given as severance. The attorney sounded very confident that she had enough to build a case and negotiate for more $. I felt pressured and agreed, since I was told that if I do not decide right away then I will have to pay for yet another session. Right after signing the tone changed where there is no guarantee to get the increase. Also when I share the feedback, I was told that I am being rude. STOP, do not contract with an attorney who is taking a substantial chunk of your severance even if they are unsuccessful in negotiating for more. Considering the way the contract was framed, I would have hoped to get someone who pursued and was aggressive enough to get a positive outcome.

When I first contacted Anna about a consultation to go over a termination agreement my former employer wanted me to sign I was expecting little to nothing other than whether or not I should sign the document and what that would mean for me. After describing to her why I felt I was terminated and that... I felt discriminated against she suggested that we pursue getting some compensation. She was very honest every step of the way, she said that we should go into this process expecting nothing to come out of it but she felt there was a good chance of recovering some compensation. Through the entire process she was sure not to get my hopes up about a settlement in my favor including on the final day of negotiating with my former employer. In the end, the settlement ended up being 5x what we were willing to settle on. If you are looking for an honest and trustworthy lawyer, look no further! Anna went above and beyond what I was expecting in a professional and timely manner.

I went with Anna because she made me feel as though she really cared. Anna’s assistant drafted u my complaint getting information wrong in the end all she did was say they promised o give me a higher position but it I wanted to move forward I had to pay her (Why would I want to pay you when you could...n’t get results working without pay). Anna informed me that f anything happened afterwards to lease call her back. Well to my surprise I dd, but I had t pay her a fee just for her to hear that. As laid off without warning after she told me my job would promote me! To make matters worse she had the nerve to send me an email to promote her Life coach business!! What a joke! Don’t waste your time with this lawyer if you’re a minority and wasn’t born with money!!!!

Boring logistics: fees are on par, has good working relationships with other lawyers (did some research), great academic record, etc etc. but after speaking with several lawfirms/lawyers, I still say it's the other stuff that stands out!
