That is not sufficient service, but you never want to assume the lawyer will correctly repeat the service or report that the service was needing to...

Pay off the account and open a credit card account with a local credit union...they are normally much fairer than the (evil, dark side) national...

IRS sometimes does not seem to care about state law. I would not take your name off the house,,,I would file separate tax returns.
