Family Law

I would not go through the divorce process without Gloria. Several of my friends ended up financially bankrupt because of their divorce settlement. After being married for 23 years, I thought I would be facing a severe penalty of working 2 jobs for the rest of my life to maintain my lifestyle and pay... for spousal support. My ex-spouse hired an Attorney with a reputation that truly scared me. She explained the divorce process and several possible outcomes and questioned my reasonable expectation for settlement. At the end of the day, an agreement was reached with terms that I felt comfortable with. I honestly believe I would not have gotten these terms without Gloria. She ensured that I ended up with the deal I was willing to accept. Divorce is scary in and of itself but having an Attorney that you’re not one hundred percent confident with is terrifying. Hire Gloria and sleep at night.

Unparalleled. Period.

Could not imagine going through this divorce with anyone other than Ms. Porter & her assistant Breanne. I had a very complicated high asset convoluted case. Opposing counsel was the absolute WORST. Gloria is thorough, precise, knows every facet of the law, organized, communicates well, emotionally av...ailable, the list just goes on. The saying “you get what you pay for” holds true, and Gloria is a force to be reckoned. I cannot imagine the outcome had my x hired her first. Comes with the highest recommendation from my camp; you will be well taken care of under Ms. Porter’s steadfast representation.

Gloria saved me

I went to Gloria Porter with a complicated post-divorce matter. Gloria knew exactly what to do. She is very knowledgeable and she is a real advocate for her clients. She cares about her clients. I have seen Gloria in trial and she is amazing!

Well done, Counselor!

Ms. Porter represented me during a stressful, complicated divorce in 2007. Due to a change in a FAA regulation the original document required a clarification regarding maintenance. She remembered my case and was able to promptly make a motion in which after some response from my ex-spouse's attorne...y (lots of smoke and mirrors) resolved the issue to my satisfaction. She is intelligent, compassionate and full of good humor. She wields the law with fairness. I regard her as a great asset to myself and the community.

BEST ATTORNEY: Tough, no non-sense, YOUR advocate

Background: I was suddenly faced with a divorce (no kids) and had no idea what to expect. I did an online search and came across many attorney firms in Spokane. I interviewed three attorneys before meeting Gloria. Gloria had been referred to me by an employment law firm. I met Gloria and never l...ooked back! Here’s what you need to know about Gloria: Trustworthy: She is up front and honest about what you can 1. Expect from her and 2. Expect in the next steps of your case. I never felt as if she didn’t have MY best interest in mind. I heard many times “the only ones who win in divorce are the attorney’s”, I never felt as though Gloria took advantage of my situation or was “winning” for her own personal gain. I trusted Gloria and over the course of 8.5 months she continued to retain my trust as MY advocate. Responsive/Kept me informed: She is always (add italics to always!) available. I know she juggles many clients successfully. I appreciated that I could call or text her. If there is a detail that is important to you, she will make it a priority to inform you immediately. Knowledgeable: Gloria has an immense amount of knowledge in regards to cases, case law, judges, commissioners and other attorney’s. It’s very clear she is passionate about understanding and applying her field of study. She is well articulated, quick on her feet and doesn’t forget a detail. Flexibility: I cannot stress this enough! Gloria worked with my work schedule and particularly before/after work hours and weekends for our meetings. During such a difficult time, it was appreciated I could keep some normalcy with my work schedule and still meet the needs of moving forward in my divorce. Advocate: She’s going to truly be your advocate, supporter and champion for your situation. In addition to the legalities of my situation, she was also able to assist me with keeping my emotions in check. Reminding me of the things we had within our control and the things we were working towards. She is a very compassionate attorney who has a no nonsense bedside manner. If my situation involved kids, I would especially want Gloria as my advocate. Other Details: You’ll love her engaging personality (I promise, even amidst a storm you learn these things!), her dogs, and Lizzy. I hear she’s “expensive” but when you are fighting for a new chapter in your life… you want someone who will FULLY advocate for YOU, not the attorney’s paralegal/assistant. Trust me; you want the person who is most knowledgeable and available to you – Gloria is. Gloria IS the best.

"I do not practice in the areas of law that Gloria practices, so when I have a client who needs representation I have to refer them to another attorney. I do not hesitate to refer people to Gloria because I can be confident that they will receive the best representation possible. That's important because when I refer a client, I want to make sure that client is happy with the referral. I would give her five stars if I could."
