Wife was awarded 40% of husband's Safeco pension in early 80's. Husband was to do transfer to wife, but he did not. 16 yrs later he was retiring. At time of decree her pension amount was worth only $28 ... ,000. He offered that amount in 1998 for her share. She refused and wanted the growth (interest on her portion). Husband's atty argued it was not her portion until transferred. Court disagreed; found when decree awarded it, it was her property. She received all growth, which amount to a large 6 figure amount + fees from exhusband.
