In addition to the Criminal Law and Labor Law, I am knowledgeable in the areas of Employment Law, Federal Indian Law, Landlord/Tenant Law, Remedies Law, and Trademark Law.
I was born and raised in Spokane, the middle child with a younger brother and older sister (which may explain quite a lot). After graduating from Shadle Park High School in 2000, I spent the majority of my twenties attempting to, but failing miserably at living a bohemian lifestyle—succeeding only in being a maudlin malcontent, and moving around a lot between Austin, Seattle, and Spokane. Once I decided to sell out, I first attended Spokane Falls Community College, getting my Associate’s degree in 2008 before being accepted to the University of Washington, where I spent the next 3 years unsuccessfully majoring in: Biochemistry, Japanese, and Psychology before finally realizingthat my high school English teacher was right, and that I needed to major in Philosophy.
When the University of Washington grew tired of me trying to major in everything they offered I graduated with a degree in philosophy and departed, once more, for Austin, Texas. In Texas, I became a petty bureaucrat, first for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, then for the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles. This work as a paper-pusher, and my own experiences on the receiving end of the criminal justice system as a defendant is what eventually spurred me to apply for law school—a decision that I am still not entirely sure was a good one. I attended Seattle University’s School of Law after Cornell, the Lewis & Clark Law School, and Spokane’s own Gonzaga Law School failed to understand/recognize my misunderstood, tortured, genius.
I am a proud member of the National Lawyers Guild, and act as a legal observer when able; I also believe, very strongly, in the concept that if the absence of a thing will kill you, you shouldn’t have to pay for it, and it should be provided for you. This apparently makes me a communist, I prefer to think it just makes me a decent human being, but am perfectly fine with being labeled as a leftist dirtbag.
I am married to the beautiful Chanel Gallagher and spends most of my free time with our children: Bjorn and Isla. I am currently licensed to practice law in the State of Washington and working towards being admitted to practice law in Scotland as a solicitor.
