Showing 1 - 1 of 1 review | Wrongful Termination

Posted by Carl | February 25, 2013

Do not go this route for an employment/termination dispute.

I have waited five (5) months to submit this review to allow time for the dust to settle and my emotions to clear. The subject was the hiring of Mr. Davis to represent me in a contract dispute btwn me and my former employer. First and foremost, I can only assume Mr. Davis was unfamiliar w/the repre...sentation of a public employee before an appointed joint county/city airport board, because his performance was so poor. However, during our first session, Mr. Davis was bragging about having just completed an argument before the State Supreme Court. First, Mr. Davis did not respond to anything having to do with contract compliance by my former employer. I realized from the start that Washington was a 'right to work' state. So, I was not contesting my termination. What I thought I was attempting to accomplish thru Mr. Davis was arguing the point that my former employer did not follow many specifics of my employment agreement enroute to the termination. Such specifics included annual evaluations and/or counseling that never occurred. Mr. Davis simply made no attempt to accomplish this. Second, when I was summoned into executive session before the board (my employer at the time), Mr. Davis just let me go on my own like a lamb to the slaughter. The board made a request that I meet with the board by itself. Mr. Davis made no objection period; nothing. I had to face four (4) airport board members, a county commissioner, a city council woman and a lawyer for the city by myself. Mr. Davis made no request or posited any objection to this 'kangaroo court' session on my behalf. He simply shrugged his shoulders, remained silent and sent me on my way. To this date, I believe Mr. Davis could have objected on my behalf. Even if he were not allowed to speak during the exec session, at least he would have been privy to the grueling inquiry and inaccurate statements inflicted on me. Finally, knowing I was doomed to termination in the regular public meeting following the exec session, once again Mr. Davis was caught unaware when I asked him to speak on my behalf before the public meeting. This is when the pubic attending the mtg could have been made aware of the proceedings that had occurred before. However, Mr. Davis was caught again by surprise when I asked him to make some kind of statement on my behalf. Meanwhile, anything involving concerns with the board's compliance with my employment agreement was long lost in the turmoil and shuffle. In retrospect, I feel as if I should have been guiding Mr. Davis thru the proceedings rather than the other way around. Of course, I was efficiently invoiced by the firm, which I paid immediately w/out protest. However, Mr. Davis never offered a phone call let alone a mtg to discuss his thoughts about what happened and/or to explain his action or lack thereof. I never heard from Mr. Davis since. Looking back, it was totally my fault hiring Mr. Davis. I had gone thru several other recommendations before I came upon him. However, the research I accomplished prior to retaining Mr. Davis I thought was sufficient. There is no reason I would hire Mr. Davis or, by reference, anyone from his firm for any reason in the future. I would likewise not recommend Mr. Davis or this firm to any other client. Unless you are prepared to address your own concerns or give Mr. Davis the words to parrot on your behalf, please stay away from this lawyer and his firm.
