Working with Katie was a miracle. Not only did she believe in me and that I needed to be treated better in my circumstance, she was FAST. She cared about my situation in spite of the fact she was very busy with trials and another case. During the course of nearly 8 months and multiple hearings, Katie was steadfast in our mission to prove my innocence. We both agreed, Not guilty and no deals. I was being charged with assault in the 2nd degree, a crime of which I was completely innocent. Although Katie assured me I wouldn't be going ...to prison, due to my lack of criminal record, hearing the judge state the maximum penalty was jarring. During the entire process she replied to every text message and called me back as soon as she was able to. She conducted multiple interviews with 7 different witnesses including the alleged victim, and was able to build an excellent defense on my behalf. During the trial, she gave the jury a crystal clear vision of what actually occurred on the date in question despite the false claims that the alleged victim was making. She would never admit it, but from my perspective, she saved my life and gave me back my positive outlook for my future. Needless to say it was looking pretty grim for a while but through her diligence and dedication we were able to come out with a trial victory. Katie Kauffman was assigned as public defender for my brother, who was charged with Assault 2 (felony). My brother is 69 and not able to think clearly about these things so I took charge of his situation and worked with Katie to achieve the best outcome. Katie was very responsive explaining the optio...ns and answering all of my questions; even on weekends and late at night. Katie was very prompt in contacting me to update me on any new information regarding my brother’s case. Katie was quite the master - she was able to get the prosecuting attorney (PA) to reduce the charge to a Class 4 assault (misdemeanor) and argued successfully to eliminate the no contact order. I could not have asked for a better outcome. I highly recommend Katie and would not hesitate to use her for all of my legal issues.
