Thomas Avery Brown

My name is Tom Brown.  

I have consistently received the highest possible professional rating (A-V) from Martindale-Hubbell, the most well-known attorney rating system in the country.

I have been with the same firm for nearly 40 years, serving clients in Southwestern Washington.  I’ve been handling complex business and personal litigation for most of my professional career, representing both defendants and plaintiffs. The emphasis of the firm has always been litigation, highlighting a sophisticated insurance defense practice mixed with a busy and successful plaintiff litigation practice. Our firm also handles business litigation, real estate disputes and probate litigation.

I am responsible for one of the few million-dollar plaintiff jury verdicts in the history of Grays Harbor County. We also were among the early pioneers in presenting computer-generated graphics and animation in a Grays Harbor County courtroom back in the late 1980s.  

Proud of my early roots in the Legal Aid movement in America, I am honored to be the State Bar Association's appointee to the Washington State Office of Civil Legal Aid Oversight Committee, where I have served since 2005. I am currently serving as Chair of the Committee.

I return each year to serve as a volunteer in the Youth and Government Mock Trial Program in Olympia, where -- each year --the kids invariably show me how to be a better lawyer.

I am admitted to the Washington State Bar, the Nebraska State Bar, and the Federal District Courts for Nebraska and Washington. I am also admitted to the Bar of the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and to the Bar of the Supreme Court of the United States. I am also admitted to the Bar of the Quinault Tribal Court.
