Kathleen Ashley Rice

Kathleen Rice brings nearly three decades of legal experience in the United States and South Africa to her family law practice. She represents clients in divorce, child custody, child support and other family law matters, with an emphasis on making the legal process clearer, more manageable and less expensive whenever possible.

Kathleen begins by listening carefully and identifying the issues that matter most to each client. She draws on extensive experience in
negotiation, strategy, analysis and communication to help clients understand their options and make informed decisions. Whether resolving a matter through negotiation or preparing for litigation, her goal is to provide practical guidance while helping clients work toward a satisfactory outcome. Kathleen began practicing law in South Africa in 1996, initially focusing on family and property law. She later developed an internationally recognized practice in telecommunications, broadcasting, media and technology law. Her clients included multinational and publicly traded companies, and she served as a director at one of South Africa’s leading law firms. This experience handling complex negotiations and high-stakes legal matters now strengthens her work with individuals facing deeply personal family law concerns.

Kathleen was admitted to the Washington State Bar in 2020 while maintaining her credentials to practice in South Africa. She volunteers with Kitsap Legal Aid Services, assisting clients with family law matters. A Kitsap County resident, Kathleen enjoys cycling, hiking and dancing. She is also a volunteer wildlife rehabilitator and educational bird handler at the West Sound Wildlife Shelter.
