Daniel Peters focuses his practice on real estate law, including evictions (unlawful detainer), condemnations (eminent domain), acquisitions, easements and boundary disputes. Prior to joining the Genesis Law Firm, Daniel spent two years as an attorney at the top-notch commercial litigation firm of Savitt Bruce & Willey before leaving to form DB Peters Law, where he focused on civil litigation and real estate disputes.
Mr. Peters graduated magna cum laude from Willamette University College of Law, where he earned a Certificate in Dispute Resolution and was an editor for the Willamette Law Review. During law school he spent two years as a law clerk for the Oregon Department of Justice’s Commercial, Condemnation and Environmental Litigation Team, where he worked on a variety of high stakes cases involving government contracts, environmental regulations, condemnations and Oregon’s cutting-edge land use measures. Prior to law school, Mr. Peters was a paralegal for Graham & Dunn’s condemnation team, where he worked on hundreds of cases for government agencies and property owners involving the government’s acquisition of private property for public projects by paying just compensation.
Mr. Peters believes in giving back to the community. He received the 2012 KCBA Volunteer Attorney of the Year Award for his work on eviction matters with the Housing Justice Project. He also volunteers with the Future of Law Institute, the Q-Law Association and serves on the board of Community for Youth.
Mr. Peters is a Puget Sound native with a passion for the amenities the region has to offer. He enjoys wildlife and landscape photography, playing team sports, rooting for the Mariners and Seahawks, and hiking and bicycling with his wife.
