Cathy Lynn Guthrie

I was given Cathy's name as a recommendation. I feel fortunate that she was the one who represented me - she is an extremely hard working attorney. She packs value into every minute she works for you. It may be her prior background in finance, as she is great at keeping her eye on the bottom line.... The statements that came from her office were clear and the accounting easy to understand. Not knowing how much time would be needed or money I was going to spend, I told her that I appreciated what a good steward of the money she was. I felt she handled my money in a very responsible manner We had very different styles, and it took a bit of time to get into a rhythm. Sometimes you can mean he exact same thing when communicating with someone, but you each process things differently. As time went on, I gained more and more respect for her and was proud to have her represent me. She is honest, fair, pragmatic, has high integrity and a noble character. In my case it was a longer process and in many ways I wish I would have known that. When the papers were filed I just assumed in ninety days it would be over. So any e-mail I received made me nervous. It's such a hard place to be especially after a long marriage. So many times it felt overwhelming. I wish I could have looked a bit further ahead as it's okay, I'm okay and in fact happier than I've been in years. There are new opportunities and once you work through things, your life can be so much better. I give her my highest recommendation.

Here’s why I chose Cathy Guthrie to represent me after our first meeting. She was obviously someone who knew the court system, especially at the local level. She asked the hard hitting questions that I didn’t expect. She didn’t try to make me feel good about myself or my choice to consider hiring ...her. She wanted to know the facts and told me the court wasn’t the place for emotional sparring with my son’s mother. She told me what I was asking for wasn’t going to be easy but it was possible. She didn’t immediately say she’d represent me. Obviously my money wasn’t her main interest. I left her office thinking that she would only represent me if I had been honest with her, which I was. In the end my son’s mother and I agreed on a Parenting Plan that maximized our son’s time with both of us and neither paid child support. It was a long hard case where again Cathy kept me on track and my emotions in check. In 2012 I again hired Cathy to represent me. She listened to what I wanted and after reviewing the matter she presented the facts to the court and the matter was stopped at the first hearing. She will tell you what to expect and she will do her best to keep things simple and on track. After thinking about the recommendation I wrote for Cathy last night, I realized I had omitted one critical point that is important to share. There were many times during my divorce that I felt I may never be okay again as my ex-husband and the original attorney both lacked a moral and ethical comp...ass.
