Genuine, knowledgeable and thorough

I’ve been working with Marlena for the last 6 months on more of an uncommon type of case. While my case is not resolved yet i am confident that we will have a favorable outcome. Marlena has maintained great communication with me since the day she took my case. She not only responds to my emails very ...quickly , but also answers my questions clearly. She has given me realistic expectations and i appreciate how direct she is.

Stress reliever

I was overwhelmed by a health care coverage issue. Marlena listened to my problem and was professional, reassuring, and very helpful. I feel she has given me good advice, has done careful research, and has made a good case for me.

Seattle's Best

“I have known Marlena for 2 years. During this time I have have consulted and hired her for various legal matters. Before I met Marlena, I did hire other attorneys in the Seattle area. I would put Marlena in the top 1% of all those attorneys. I have appreciated her level of mastery of the law and how... to apply it for a successful outcome. She is extremely skilled in her profession and has a calm educational approach with her clients. Furthermore, I found her to be extremely ethical, diligent, and fair. What could be a complex and stressful legal matter - she makes seem easy and stress free.”

Disrespectful consultation

On consultation for services in health care employment contract review and negotiation, I had 2 questions regarding specific services provided and associated fees. While I expected to pay more than the initial rates quoted by this and other firms, I respectfully asked what basic services the firm wou...ld provide that would exceed that of the basic services I'd expect from a less costly service (both termed "contract review"). The reason I asked was that their quoted retainer fee was double what 3 other firms quoted. Ms. Grundy's response included a complaint that the firm's retainer fee included a "low profit margin" already and that they would be charging an additional fee for time spent on a conflict of interest waiver. It had a clear message that I'd be fortunate to have this firm negotiate my contract, but now that I had asked those questions, that the principal attorney would not consider me as a client. To be clear, my expectations were 1) that my questions about what services a firm provides for their fees would be answered and done so respectfully, and 2) that a professional service provider would approach clients with a perspective that the relationship would be mutually beneficial, if not that the firm would be the fortunate one to have the client's business. Words fail to describe how unpleasantly surprised I was by the response and am ultimately grateful to have had that happen before any services were formally retained. I do hope this review is constructive to both the firm and future potential clients.

Dr. G, I remember you well because I disagreed with how your inquiry at my *former* firm was handled. I am sorry for your experience. As you noted in your review, my final response to you was sent under the explicit guidance of the firm's principal, using his wording. Since our prior communications were cordial, and by noting I was sending the email at Mr. X's direction, I hoped you would read between the lines and understand the sudden change in tone was his. I appreciate your feedback, but as you noted in your review, it is relevant to the previous firm's behavior and would be more appropriately filed under the principal attorney's name. I take client relations very seriously. Feel free to contact me at my new firm, and I will be more than happy to discuss our fees. I am convinced you will find them competitive given the quality of services that are provided. I welcome the opportunity to change your impression. [email protected]
