EAD takes up to three months to process from the date of filing if your filing is not defective.

It may not affect you I-765 application but It will be something to deal with at your asylum interview and beyond.

You can take an Infopass appointment and go and ask in person if there is a USCIS service center nearest to you.

They will take finger prints and pictures. She can reschedule it if she is not comfortable to do so due to health concerns.
