Biography
Tom's practice focuses primarily on environmental matters. He has advised and represented Pacific Northwest clients on a broad array of environmental issues for over 30 years. His clients range from major oil companies to small businesses and property owners of all sizes.
Much of Tom's practice concerns contamination and pollution-related issues. He represents clients in negotiating cleanup and allocating liability at federal and state Superfund sites. In addition to being a strong advocate for his clients, Tom is equally effective working with other parties (including regulators), and he also serves as a mediator of environmental disputes.
Tom represents parties in environmental litigation, as well as arbitration, mediation, and other alternative dispute resolution processes. He also helps clients resolve environmental issues in corporate and real estate transactions, including brownfields transfer and redevelopment.
In addition, Tom has significant experience in energy facility siting and project development, industrial plant permitting and compliance, and related administrative proceedings.
