Van Stuart Katzman

Van brings a pragmatic, business-centric approach in counseling companies and senior management teams, honed through nearly sixteen years of experience in legal, strategic and operational roles in both the Fortune 500 and start-up company environments.  During that span, he has negotiated countless transactions, helped companies raise capital (venture and otherwise), spearheaded mergers and acquisitions, forged business development opportunities, drafted strategic business plans, counseled companies on employment, regulatory, and ethical issues, managed complex litigation, and served as a trusted sounding board to several CEOs.

Van also has a deep environmental business and policy background and works extensively with clean tech and other environmental companies, providing legal and business development advice to a broad array of entities in the renewable energy, alternative vehicle fuel, waste-to-energy, water conservation, energy efficiency, biofuel, and other related areas.

Van played varsity soccer at Yale and enjoys a number of outdoor activities in the great Northwest, including golf, hiking, and camping.  He is married and has two kids (ages 11 and 3) and tries to coach their sports teams, when he can find the time.  He serves on the Board of Patent Trust for Washington Children, is a co-founder of the PNW Chapter of Environmental Entrepreneurs, and is involved a several other community activities.
