Sophia Woolery

Sophia Woolery is a Partner at Wechsler Becker, LLP practicing exclusively in the area of family law. Sophia approaches each of her cases with pragmatism, empathy, preparedness, and care. She prides herself on strong communication and advocacy skills—both inside and outside the courtroom. As an experienced litigator, Sophia understands the procedural and substantive intricacies of litigation and how to best balance those complexities with her clients’ desired outcomes. Sophia is attentive to the legal needs and nuanced issues in each of her cases, as well as the emotional burden and trauma that often accompany family law matters.

Sophia Woolery began her career in family law during law school as a Rule 9 Extern at the Crystal Judson Family Justice Center in Tacoma, Washington, where she became versed in domestic violence and family law while providing pro bono legal services to survivors of domestic violence. Her work involved significant client interaction and countless mediation sessions and court appearances, which sharpened the strong trial and client advocacy skills she practices today. Prior to that, Sophia clerked for the Honorable Kathryn Nelson and the Honorable Thomas Felnagle in Pierce County Superior Court. Clerking at the superior court level allowed Sophia to gain valuable perspective from the bench while also honing her skills in efficient legal research and persuasive writing. Sophia graduated from Seattle University School of Law in 2014 and has been practicing family law since. Her education and past experience have primed her to be effective in resolving disputes efficiently, professionally, and with compassion.
