If you ask David Mace why he became a lawyer, he won’t give you a flashy courtroom story. Instead, he’ll tell you something simple and sincere: he wanted to help people. For David, family law is more than a career, it’s a way to guide clients through life’s rough waters and help them discover calmer, brighter shores.
David’s approach begins with listening, really listening. He believes that understanding a client’s story and their goals is the foundation for creating a legal path forward. Whether it’s untangling a complex custody matter or navigating a challenging divorce, David is driven by the belief that his skills can help improve lives, especially for children.
His guiding philosophy? Be kind. Everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle.
A Clearview, Washington native, David’s journey started far from courtrooms and legal briefs. He grew up on a small farm, where chores like milking the cow and tilling the garden were a way of life. He earned his AA at Everett Community College, his BA from the University of Washington, and his JD at Georgetown University. Before stepping into law, his first official job was mixing paint at a local paint store, though he started his work ethic much earlier, doing landscaping at twelve.
For 18 years, David poured his energy into a nonprofit legal aid clinic, where he provided critical help to those who needed it most. Outside the office, he’s a proud father of two. He has a deep passion for inclusion and advocacy for children with disabilities.
When he’s not helping clients or championing causes close to his heart, you’ll probably find David reading a good book, enjoying music, or sharing a story from his farm days, yes, cows and all. His mix of compassion, dedication, and practical wisdom makes him not only a trusted attorney but also the kind of person you’d want in your corner during life’s toughest moments.

Extremely Helpful
David Mace has been extremely helpful with answering all of our legal questions and explaining how things could happen in court, he has also given us additional support to reach out to if we need it.
"I have worked with David Mace and have been consistently impressed by his professionalism, judgment, and commitment to his clients. David brings a thoughtful and practical approach to family law, combining strong legal knowledge with the ability to listen carefully and understand the human circumstances behind each case. What distinguishes David is his ability to remain composed and solution-focused when matters become difficult. He treats clients, opposing counsel, and other professionals with respect while advocating firmly for his clients’ interests. I have also found David to be a thoughtful colleague who welcomes collaboration and approaches challenging legal issues with genuine intellectual curiosity. David is the kind of attorney I would feel comfortable referring a friend, colleague, or family member to. He is a capable advocate, a conscientious counselor, and a true professional."
"David was one of my first mentors when I started practicing family law. From the beginning, I appreciated how calm, thoughtful, and genuinely interested he was in the people he served. David is particularly well-suited for collaborative divorce matters. He combines a steady, relationship-focused style with deep technical knowledge of child support issues gained through his years as a prosecuting attorney in both Snohomish and King Counties. Other professionals in the collaborative community consistently speak highly of him, and in a process that depends on professionals working well together, that reputation matters. David's clients feel heard, respected, and genuinely cared for. Having worked alongside him, first as a volunteer at a legal clinic he ran when I was starting out, and now at Truce Law, I can say that's no accident."
"I've had the pleasure of working alongside David, and he's a phenomenal attorney. He's sharp, deeply knowledgeable, and consistently professional — but what sets him apart is his ability to think outside the box. Time and again, I've watched him find a way through difficult cases, working constructively with opposing counsel to reach resolutions. In family law, where matters are so often emotionally charged, that skill is both rare and genuinely admirable. I always enjoy collaborating with him, and I look forward to seeing his continued growth. Anyone who has the chance to work with him will quickly understand why I recommend him so highly."
