I have handled federal criminal cases in Washington, Oregon, California, New York, Florida and Alaska. My caseload now includes individuals accused of (1) making false statements to the National Institutes of Health, (2) selling counterfeit software, (3) acting as an unlicensed investment adviser, and (4) distributing methamphetamine. I do accept cases in the Washington State courts. I do not accept DWI or juvenile cases.

I represent persons convicted of federal crimes who seek review in the Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. These appeals range from wide-ranging challenges to pretrial and trial rulings to more narrow appeals involving sentencing issues. My appellate practice is limited to the federal courts. I generally do not handle appeals in the Washington state courts.

In 2008, I successfully defended a foreign trust that had been sued for breach of contract in federal court in Los Angeles, obtaining dismissal for lack of jurisdiction. Allen Bentley is a superb and intelligent and attorney who thoroughly invests himself in his client's cause

Allen Bentley did a superb job of respresenting me and ulitmately prevailing in a federal criminal case that involved the imposition of an illegal sentence. We were up against bureaucratic US Attorneys who claimed they had a right to impose a $30 million restitution judgement against me simply becau...se of a procedural error despite their knowledge that the sentencing judge intended the amount to be $50,000. Al did extensive research and provided superb arguments as to why the case should be put before the judge for resentencing. He ultimately got the government to stipulate to the resentencing and persuaded the judge to sentence me to the amount that he originally intended to impose ($50,000).
