Samuel James Olive

Prior to co-founding HLP Legal, PLLC, Samuel graduated cum laude from Seattle University School of Law, where he diligently focused his studies on criminal law and procedure, constitutional law, and trial advocacy courses.

Samuel gained invaluable experience in the Seattle University Youth Advocacy Clinic, where he worked with juvenile public defenders in representing accused youths by negotiating with prosecutors, investigating the charges, and advocating before the King County Juvenile Court. It was this experience where he developed a passion for being a defense advocate, especially for young people.

He also interned at the Washington Appellate Project, a public defense firm which focuses on appealing convictions on behalf of both juveniles and adults in the Court of Appeals. Here, he learned a great deal about constructing legal arguments, especially in regards to juvenile manifest injustice and criminal search and seizure cases. Additionally, he was able to improve his advocacy skills delivering and observing oral arguments before the Appellate Courts.
