Replied last August 15, 2016There obviously was miscommunication between us and for that I apologize. I think it’s important to put this in context. I met with this client 3 years ago. The document my receptionist had her sign was a standard intake sheet, very similar to what any attorney or doctor would have you sign at your first appointment. The intake form asks the client to confirm that the client understands that they are financially responsible for appointments with the attorney and it has a signature line and date. I met with this client who engaged my services. The client then sent me several emails and documents to review and asked that I provide an opinion which I did. It is true that my paralegal sent a document by email that was intended for another client. The document was a court pleading and did not contain any sensitive material and it became part of the public record. I reduced the bill as a courtesy but this person has never paid me for the services I provided to her. Again, I accept responsibility for the miscommunication or misunderstanding.
