I head up the firm’s employment law practice, which focuses on assisting businesses with their Human Resources and employment law needs. We often assist employers with preventative measures in order to best ensure protection of their business needs and their employees’ rights. Such preventative measures often consist of:

• Conducting workplace investigations,
• Drafting and/or revising company handbooks and/or policies,
• Conducting on-site trainings,
• Conducting internal Human Resources audits, and
• Advising on general employment and employee relations related matters.

In addition, we assist with the defensive measures related to employment law. This means:

• Drafting EEOC and agency responses,
• Assisting with DOL investigations,
• Responding to demand letters, and
• Defending employers involved in employment litigation.

Prior Employment Law Experience

I worked for Target Corporation in Human Resources for both the stores and distribution after college.  While working for Target Corp., I implemented HR policies and procedures for the stores, helped create a centralized recruiting program for the distribution centers, and worked extensively on employee relations issues.

Upon graduation from law school in 2004, I began my career with the Atlanta office of Ogletree Deakins (an international employment law defense firm), after clerking with the Indianapolis office during law school.  In Atlanta, I focused on many aspects of employment law including, but not limited to, employment litigation.  In 2010 and 2011, I served as in-house counsel for Regis Corporation in Minneapolis where I advised internal clients on handling employment disputes as well as implemented an internal wage and hour compliance program.

I returned to Ogletree in 2011 at its Minneapolis office and last moved to Seattle.  For the last year, I worked in Ogletree’s Seattle office honing my skills related to Washington state’s employment laws.
