Anne B. Bennette

I encountered Anne Bennett as opposing counsel in a family law matter involving post-secondary educational expenses. Throughout the proceedings, Ms. Bennett frequently asserted that the Court has “wide latitude” in family law decisions to support positions that, in my view, conflicted with clear Wash...ington statutes—particularly regarding child support beyond age 18 and post-secondary educational expenses beyond age 23. Additionally, during oral arguments, Ms. Bennett misstated the reason for my Washington State Bar complaint, inaccurately claiming it was filed because I disliked being subpoenaed. In fact, the complaint was filed due to opposing counsel’s improper transmission of my Social Security number via unencrypted email, which raised serious privacy and security concerns. This conduct appears to be inconsistent with professional ethical requirements for protecting personal information. Efforts to engage in good-faith settlement discussions were met with limited responsiveness, contributing to prolonged litigation and increased costs. While I respect the role of zealous advocacy, prospective clients and parties should be aware of these issues when working with Ms. Bennett. This review reflects my personal experience and aims to provide constructive insight for others navigating family law disputes.
