I started my carrier as an insurance defense lawyer. Incorporating a business involves choosing a name, filing documents with the state to incorporate, registration with the Oregon Department of Revenue, and registration with the IRS. A registered agent must be selected as well. Annual minutes are required as well. Following these steps is essential in retaining personal assets should the corporation be sued in the future.

Foreclosures seek to recover property, typically real property. Unfortunately, the steps are different depending on whether the security instrument is a land sale contract, mortgage, or trust deed. An entirely different set of rules applies to construction liens. Priority of various liens must be analyzed in advance, as sometimes 2nd or 3rd position is not good enough. Often, procedures such as deeds in lieu of foreclosure can be used to secure the property more economically.
