Jason Benjamin Wheeless

Jason Wheeless brings nearly 20 years of dedicated experience to his role as a criminal defense attorney, skillfully representing clients in cases ranging from DUII to murder. Notably, Jason is one of the few Spanish-speaking criminal defense attorneys serving communities east of the Cascades, providing invaluable support to a diverse client base.

Jason began his legal career in 2005 as a public defender in Pendleton, Oregon. His passion for justice and cultural exchange led him to spend a year in Spain, where he taught in a public high school and deepened his understanding of foreign policy at the Universidad de Cádiz. Upon returning to the United States, Jason moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico, where he spent a decade defending clients in state and federal courts.

During his time in New Mexico, Jason handled an array of complex cases, including serious violent felonies, immigration-related offenses, state habeas corpus petitions, and appellate work. His comprehensive legal background shaped him into a versatile and compassionate advocate.

In 2020, Jason returned to Central Oregon, serving as a public defender in Deschutes, Crook, and Jefferson Counties. There, he represented clients in adult and juvenile delinquency cases across a broad spectrum of charges.
