Run - don't walk from this "attorney".

I hired Janie to handle a case that was eventually thrown out of court...but not due to Janie's intervention. I had to call and call and call and call to get any information about my case. Janie was rude, abrupt, condescending and totally unavailable. She happily took my two thousand dollar retaine...r and then basically abandoned the case. My initial consult was supposed to be 35.00 and she ended up charging me 175.00. I was supposed to have a one hour consult and ended up getting - maybe- 20 minutes of her undivided attention. She took calls during my consult, talked and joked with her private investigator and her secretary/assistant. Janie Burcart was fired from a District Attorney position in the Portland area for being horrid to victims and victim advocates. This is the reason she was not hired to be District Attorney in La Grande. Her reputation proceeds her. I knew nothing of this before I hired her or I would have never given her the time of day. I complained many times about her behavior/attitude to her assistant and actually got an apology - once. I thought hiring a female attorney, one who seemed to have a good working relationship with Shelter from the Storm would ensure that she would be "victim" friendly. Boy was I ever wrong! I was told by others who have worked with her that because I was strong, do not back down to bullying and attractive that Janie did not give me the services I paid for. Who knows? I just know that she took a lot of money from me and did NOTHING for my case. In fact, she told me to change MY behavior!!! This woman is unprofessional at best.

Excellent!

Janie was brilliant. She gave me all of the answers I needed. She normally does not practice family law but did so as a favor, and it was amazing how much she knew about it. Every question I had she answered immediatlely and with no hesitation. When I knew I couldn't afford to pay her to drive ac...cross the state, she offered to call a friend of hers who was also an attorney who would be cheaper, as her friend was in the area of the court date. I would recommend her to anyone and everyone.
