I have been an attorney providing strong and compassionate representation to my clients for over 25 years. I am licensed in Oregon, Washington, Utah and Hawaii, so chances are that if you need an attorney out west, I can help.
My primary practice areas are Divorce/Family Law, Criminal Defense, DUII and Chapter 7 Bankruptcy.
Although I am a former Deputy DA, most of my experience has been in private practice. I served on the Oregon Child Support Guidelines Review Committee in 2011-2012, chaired the Oregon State Bar Family Law Section 2013 Annual Conference, continue to serve on the Oregon State Bar Family Law Section Executive Committee, and have served on the Oregon State Bar Client Security Fund.
I am married with three children, am an active member in my parish, and am a licensed private pilot.

Responsive Divorce Lawyer
I met Chris Eggert through a referral from my EAP, while I was still reeling from the shock that divorce had been introduced into my life. He answered his own telephone and asked about my wellbeing first before proceeding onto business. He told me up-front that there would be more expensive lawyers w...

First-class Family Law Attorney
My divorce was complicated, going back to 2005 and involving attorneys in 3 states. I've been working with Mr. Eggert for five years now and can say with 100% certainty that if you are able to enlist him to advise and represent you, and you follow his advice, then your life (and your kids) is going t...

Child Custody Matter
My daughter was going through a traumatic split up with the father of her children. I contacted Chris' office blindly, not living in the state my daughter does, nor knowing anyone who practices in her state. We were looking for full custody and the ability for them to relocate to my daughter's home...

Divorce Case
I was not at all impressed with Mr. Eggert and his associates. My ex walked away with almost everything. Almost everything I was told by Mr. Eggert turned out to be false. Numerous mistakes on the paperwork. The legal costs were triple what I was quoted and the payout to my ex was unbelievable. He ga...
Contested divorce cases usually take six months to a year; it is difficult to imagine that these complaints could not have been brought to my attention during that entire time or if you were so unhappy with the services you were receiving that you would not have hired a different firm. I suspect a troll. Our usual practice is to assign an attorney at the time we are retained. Other attorneys in the office can and do assist, but the assigned attorney typically does the vast majority of the work on a file. All of our work, who did it and how much it costs, is disclosed on the monthly invoice. We do not give quotes on fees in contested divorces. We will quote a retainer, and it is always explained that a retainer is intended to secure payment of our fees and is not an estimate of how much a contested case will cost. Errors do happen on paperwork from time to time, usually inconsequential typos. I'm human. But errors get found and fixed. Oregon is a marital property state, so everything marital is usually divided in half between the parties. Virtually no one "walks away with almost everything" in a divorce. If you really were a client of mine, please let me know privately who you were so I can review my file and ensure this doesn't happen to anyone else. Otherwise, I hope anyone reading this will understand that anonymity allows unrealistic and unfounded attacks like this.

Worst Ever
Hired this attorney for my divorce. He gave everything to my ex: did not look into splitting retirement, splitting the cost of the parent evaluater, triple mailed the same information and charged me for it. The list of autrosities from this attorney is astrinomical and would NEVER recommend him. H...
I do my best for every client. Sometimes the client doesn't get their ideal outcome, and this happens for a variety of reasons. Every case is different, and the outcome is often dependent upon the choices the client makes and the judge's view of the evidence. If you truly feel you have been wronged, I invite you to contact me offline and directly. There are likely better ways to address your concerns than an anonymous review.
"Chris is my go-to expert in the field of Qualified Domestic Relations Orders. He is knowledgeable and quick to offer help when it's needed. I cannot recommend him highly enough."
"Chris is a hard-working lawyer who is a strong advocate for his clients. Chris is a true professional."
"I endorse Christopher. He is a highly skilled attorney that is well respected in the legal community."
"I've had the pleasure of working opposite Mr. Eggert. He is extremely professional and does a thorough job of looking to resolve cases as favorably for his clients as possible. I would have no hesitation in recommending his services to anyone, and gladly endorse him."
"I endorse this lawyer as Mr. Eggert is an exceptional lawyer, very practical and is frugal with his client's funds. In the Salem area you cannot go wrong hiring Mr. Eggert."
