Biography
A practicing family law attorney for more than 30 years, Gary Zimmer's practice is centered on family law cases including annulments, legal separations, and dissolution of marriage proceedings. He is adept at handling and managing complex cases involving business valuations, inheritances and other difficult issues. His firm, Zimmer Family Law, LLC, is located in Portland, Oregon.
Mr. Zimmer received his undergraduate degree from Cleveland State University and his law degree from Case Western University. He has tried cases to judges and juries and has been a fellow in the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers since January 18, 1992. For 20 consecutive years, Mr. Zimmer has been listed as one of the Best Lawyers in America and received the title of Lawyer of the Year for Family Law in 2009.
A former president of the Oregon chapter of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, Mr. Zimmer sat on the national board of directors of the Academy during the same period. He is a member of the Oregon Academy of Family Law Practitioners and is one of its past presidents. Additional professional activities include membership in the Family Law Section of the Oregon State Bar. He is also a former pro tem Circuit Court judge in family law and is a frequent speaker at continuing legal education seminars involving family law issues.
