I bring decades of courtroom experience and a practical, straightforward approach to criminal defense. I understand how overwhelming it can be to face criminal charges, and I focus on helping people navigate those moments with clear guidance, steady communication, and respect.
I began my legal career as a Deputy District Attorney in Multnomah County, where I spent seven years prosecuting cases ranging from misdemeanors to serious felonies. During that time, I tried more than one hundred jury trials and developed significant experience handling felony DUII cases. That work gave me a strong foundation in trial advocacy and a clear understanding of how cases are evaluated and resolved.
After leaving the District Attorney’s Office, I transitioned into private practice, focusing on criminal defense. Having worked on both sides of the system, I bring a well-rounded perspective to my cases and work to develop practical, effective strategies for each client.
In addition to my legal experience, I serve as a Purchasing Manager at Alpenrose Dairy, where I negotiate contracts, manage vendor relationships, and implement operational improvements. This work has strengthened my ability to analyze complex situations, make sound decisions, and deliver results—skills that carry directly into my legal practice.
My background has shaped how I approach my work. I was raised by a single mother with limited financial resources, and that experience taught me resilience and perspective early on. I don’t judge people for the situations they find themselves in, and I believe everyone deserves to be treated with fairness and respect while working toward a better path forward.
Outside of work, I enjoy running, water skiing, and coaching youth basketball and soccer. I value time with others and believe that even small, positive moments can make a lasting difference.

The Best of the Best in Ptown!!
Brandon helped a dear friend of mine, on a bogus charge that Portland Police created. The Bench Trial was a joke. The three 'witnesses' could not provide a clear eye witness account and there was NO supporting evidence. Mr. Calheim was effortless in making them look not only misinformed but naive as ...

Outstanding criminal attorney
Hopefully, I will not need him again, but I'm so thankful I found him. Brilliant, young, charsmatic, unbelievable with a jury and judge. Smart man. Really knows his law. After the trial, even the prosecutor was telling him how amazed he was at his litigation and knowledge.
