When I was headed off to college, after adamantly telling everyone who asked that I was never going to law school, I would follow up by saying that I wanted to learn how language impacted human behavior. That search took me to fascinating places, and along the way I received a bachelor's in anthropology, an MFA in Creative Writing...and then a law degree. As a much wiser friend once told me, "if you want to know how language influences human behavior, look at the tax code."
At Immix Law Group, I spend most of my time using language to empower companies and individuals to be the best version of themselves. We work with everyone from bootstrapped startups to juggernauts, although we tend to focus on the first group. I personally assist a lot of founders who need simple and effective legal protections around a specific idea or application, and I have also managed team approaches to more complex problems for my clients.
I have a broad range of hobbies and side projects, but top of mind at the moment are the Portland Timbers, contract bridge, and hand-crafting nonsensical domain names for startup companies in need of a brand.
