As an intellectual property attorney, my focus is on helping your business identify and strategically protect its intangible assets. As a registered patent attorney, I can assist with every aspect of IP law, including patent preparation and prosecution, portfolio strategy, licensing, and freedom-to-operate.

I’m a partner at the law firm of Kolisch Hartwell. My practice includes the full range of intellectual property law, including patent, trademark, copyright, and trade secret matters. With a strong technical background in industrial engineering, computer science, and nuclear engineering, as well as extensive practical experience in manufacturing and business, I advise companies on both technical and non-technical matters.

In my patent work, I represent a broad array of industries. In general, though, I tend to focus on complex mechanical inventions, typically involving electronics and software controls.

During my time as an engineer and manager on the factory floor, I worked extensively with industrial automation, and with ABB, Kuka, and Fanuc robots. I also served as a nuclear power-trained officer in the U.S. Navy, where I was in charge of reactor controls and electronic systems on the USS California (CGN-36). After my Navy and automotive industry days, I worked as an engineer and manager in the shipping and food industries, focusing mainly on manufacturing systems and equipment, software application development, process design, project management, root cause analysis, and complex planning.
