I thought I had an Ally in my corner

I read the only other review for James Blake. Here's an opposite experience. I paid the basic consultation fee. I spent an hour with James Blake and Bill Ransom discussing my case/situation. They took the matter under-advisement. A few days later, they sent me a client agreement and retainer request ...for $1500. I promptly signed the agreements and paid the $1500. I spent another hour formulating a game-plan with James. He's a nice-enough guy. I left the meeting feeling as though I was in good hands. Unfortunately, 3-days later, they dropped me as a client. According to the Oregon State Bar, this is allowable. What I find unconscionable is their unwillingness to even take my phone call to discuss the matter. I paid them $1500. They cashed my check. Then they suddenly dropped me, and would not even take my phone call. In fairness, they did return my full retainer, but the whole debacle cost me valuable time in pursuing my plan of action regarding the legal case. I lost first-strike position. As previously noted, James is a nice guy, but it's amazing that he would not take my phone call (after hiring him). I cannot speak of his legal prowess, as I only got this far with him, however, I would caution anyone using his service. You think you have a legal ally in your corner, and the next thing you know, they can dump you as a client. It happened to me.

Exceptionable!!!

Mr. Blake represents everything one would hope a lawyer to be. He's very professional, driven, honest and diligent. Due to his efforts, I just recovered my full investment of $150,000, plus another $10,000, from a private business which grossly misrepresented the facts to induce me to invest. The out...come was the best case scenario and settled before Mr. Blake needed to make an appearance in court. It's usually very difficult to recover anything in these types of cases but I received complete reimbursement plus enough to cover the minimal legal expenses in the most cost effective manner possible. I attribute this success to his complete understanding of my case, his well researched "slam dunk" arguments incorporating all the supporting case law necessary. His well drafted, thorough court documents and his effective strategy resulted in a very satisfactory result. I'm 61. Having been a client (or victim) to dozens of costly attorneys over many years of needing representation to resolve too many unfortunate business and family matters, it's refreshing to have been represented by an attorney with so much integrity and ability. Also, the fees and his firms billing practices are very reasonable which includes all the support of the partners and excellent staff. Can't believe I'd ever say this but James Blake and Sorenson, Ransom have actually restored my faith in the legal system and he's a pleasure to work with.
