Vicki helped me get through my divorce, she was excellent, caring, and I always felt like she had my back. I could not have hired a better attorney.

INCOMPETENT

Ms. Vernon was court appointed to represent my husband in a high profile case in which from the start she clearly displayed a lack of both interest in representing my husband and disdain for having been appointed to do so by the courts. When we realized she clearly had not time or interest to fairl...y represent my husband and his rights, we asked her to step down from the case, and she declined to this. Every suggestion and/or avenue we tried to get her output on, requests we made on his behalf for documents, cell phone records and more to defend his case; fell on deaf ears for over a year and a half and repeated requests of her. She would not return phone calls, and when she did it was after repeated calls to her and be days going into weeks before we would recieve a call back. My husband ended up speaking over her in closed room meetings with the D.A. as she would not speak of what we asked or questions we needed to find answers to. Rather we were met with her set answer to anything we asked of her, "I'm not going to ask that" or many times we were told of the absurdty of our even suggesting a number of things we needed discussed or an answer to. My husband late in the case stood in the park blocks with his case private investigator and Ms. Vernon after a court appearance, in which my husband asked Ms. Vernon as to how many UUMV cases she had defended in court as he was concerned with her ability in his defense at trial. Ms. Vernon' answer to the question posed was simply, "F--- You ___" ans she walked away. We were not aware of her sanctions with the State Bar. She should not have been placed as a attorney to represent anyone without disclosing this information as she clearly from the start had disdain for my husband and heavily sided without question to any all that came from the D.A. in this case. Including when upon exiting the Courthouse, the D.A. saw my husband and Ms. Vernon standing, the D.A. told Ms. Vernon to put out her cigarette. In which she promptly did at the command. Great show of her strength and capability in being able to go into a courtroom and stand in defense of my husband against this D.A. anyway. We felt she did as little as possible in the case; just enough to cover herself should it come into question. At best Ms. Vernon should be disbarred and unable to practice criminal defense certainly.
