Do not retain this Lawyer

I would not recommend this attorney for a complex or high-conflict family-law matter. I hired him to represent me in a divorce. In my experience, there were serious problems with case management, attention to deadlines, preparation, and overall litigation strategy. My biggest concern is that I did ...not feel my case was being managed proactively. Important issues became reactive rather than being addressed before they created additional problems. In family-law litigation, failing to properly manage discovery and court deadlines can have significant consequences. Communication was another concern. There were times when I did not feel I had a clear understanding of the strategy, what needed to be done next, or the risks associated with decisions being made in the case. As the client, I expected my attorney to identify those risks early, establish a clear plan, and make sure important procedural requirements were handled correctly and on time. What makes the experience particularly frustrating is that my former attorney later acknowledged to me that the opposing party was pursuing action against me that warranted a significant response and even consultation with appellate counsel. By that point, however, I was dealing with consequences that I believe stronger case management and earlier strategic attention could have helped avoid or mitigate. I understand that no attorney can guarantee an outcome, and losing a motion or receiving an unfavorable ruling does not by itself mean an attorney provided poor representation. My dissatisfaction is not simply about the outcome. It is about how the case was managed, the level of preparation and strategic guidance I received, and whether I felt adequately protected from foreseeable procedural and financial risks. Based on my personal experience, I would strongly encourage anyone considering this attorney for a complicated family-law matter to ask detailed questions about discovery management, filing deadlines, litigation strategy, communication practices, and how the attorney will personally monitor the case before deciding to retain him. If I had the opportunity to make the decision again, I would hire different counsel.

Run

If he tells you he's a pit bull, and he will surround you with the circle of protection. I say, run as fast as you can.

I paid for...?

Divorce from a long marriage. I have no idea what I paid for, filling out and filing forms? I was left with an enormous amount of debt with no explanation as to why. I only get my kids one day/week with no explanation as to why. I honestly can't think of a single positive thing and I honestly don...'t know how I could have possibly gotten any worse and just represented myself. I still can't even get a response with issues that still need to be addressed.
