Jonathan Kam

Jonathan Kam is a Honolulu-based landlord and eviction attorney who represents landlords, property owners, and real estate investors in eviction, summary possession, lease enforcement, and landlord-tenant disputes throughout Hawaiʻi. His practice is intentionally limited to landlord-side representation, with an emphasis on statutory compliance, procedural accuracy, and efficient resolution of possession-related matters.

Mr. Kam’s work focuses on matters governed by Hawaiʻi Revised Statutes Chapters 521 and 666, including nonpayment evictions, lease violations, holdover tenancies, termination disputes, and summary possession actions in District Court. He regularly advises landlords on notice requirements, cure periods, service issues, and timing considerations that can affect the outcome of eviction and possession proceedings.

Mr. Kam earned his Juris Doctor from the University of California Hastings College of the Law (now UC Law San Francisco). During law school, he clerked for the Honorable A. James Robertson II at the San Francisco Superior Court, assisting with complex civil litigation matters. After graduating, he practiced as an associate at several established litigation firms in California before returning to Honolulu, Hawaiʻi, to establish his own practice focused on landlord-tenant and property-related disputes.

He is licensed to practice law in Hawaiʻi, California, and Oregon. While his practice is based in Honolulu, Mr. Kam represents landlords throughout Oʻahu and assists clients on neighboring islands on a case-by-case basis.

Landlord-tenant matters in Hawaiʻi are highly technical and procedurally driven. Mr. Kam approaches representation with a compliance-first, risk-aware mindset, focusing on proper notice, accurate service, statutory timing, and strategic case positioning. His goal is to help landlords move disputes forward lawfully and efficiently while minimizing the risk of delay or dismissal.
