Thomas Kenneth Ledgerwood

Hello, my name is Tom Ledgerwood.  I have been practicing law here in the north state since 1984.  I am a Certified Specialist in workers' compensation and been helping people with their Social Security Disability cases for over two decades now.

I have published two books on surviving the administrative law process, The Workers' Compensation Survival Manual and The Social Security Disability Survival Manual.  I am also an editor, reporter, photographer and chief bottle washer for Safe Harbor, our awesome monthly newsletter.  You will find these publications loaded with great information to help you survive the long, lonely walk through the claims process.

I completed my undergraduate education in Business Administration with a Speech and Drama minor at California State University, Chico and graduated with honors in English and distinction in 1979.  I went on to be a financial analyst at IBM.  My legal education began in San Francisco, where I attended Golden Gate University, School of Law and graduated in the top 20% of my class.  I was a member of the Golden Gate Law Review and graduated in 1983.

My legal career began in earnest in 1984 when I became a deputy prosecutor with the Butte County District Attorney's office.  I went into private practice in 1987 specializing in civil litigation and criminal defense.  In 1996 I took over a colleague's Workers' Compensation and Social Security Disability practice and found my true calling in law.  I love this area of the law and the things I can do to help people survive a work injury or just keep a roof over their head if they have lost their earning capacity.

I live with my wife, two kids, two dogs, two cats and two horses in the Butte Valley of Butte County California.  I love to garden, cook, hike, camp, scuba dive, fish and build things.  I have also worked with a lot of jerks over the years and have vowed not to be one; you will find that I and my firm are very accessible and easy to work with.
