Erik M. Aanestad

Erik Aanestad is an attorney licensed to practice in both the State of California and the State of Nevada.  He counsels and finds solutions for clients in the areas of estate planning, elder law, probate law and also assists clients through the process of trust administration.  Erik's legal background also includes practicing in the areas of family law, guardianships, bankruptcy and civil litigation.

Erik has always excelled in both academics and other professional pursuits.  He received his undergraduate degree in English Literature with a minor in Psychology from the University of Arizona.  After working as a firefighter for the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (now known as “CALFIRE”) he continued his law education at Florida Coastal School of Law where he received many awards and honors including the Governor’s Merit Scholarship for academic excellence.

He has spent time volunteering as a guardian ad litem representing the best interest of children in court proceedings and has provided pro bono consultations to rural residents in bankruptcy matters.  He has also been an active participant and campaigner for the Alzheimer’s Association and is a member of the Gold Country Estate Planning Council and the Nevada County Bar Association.  He is also a certified private pilot.

Erik represents both individuals and private business owners in all areas of estate and business planning, estate and trust administration, and elder law matters. His specific expertise includes: representation of trustees and personal representatives in legal proceedings; administration of trusts; preparation of complex estate planning options, including special needs trusts, retirement trusts, and irrevocable life insurance trusts; and organization and protection of assets against Medi-Cal claims.
