Baron Family Law Scam This law firm, Baron Family Law, is a scam. I am currently going through a tragic divorce. I hired Baron Family Law to help me with my divorce case. I have spent around $30,000 with this law firm. I paid $15,000 for a retainer fee, then an additional $7,000 on top of that,... and even more after—bringing the total to about $30,000. This law firm messed up my entire case. I STILL OWE A BALANCE AFTER PAYING $30,000 On January 3, 2026, I was assigned to attorney Kelly Lynn Campbell-McKay (#35198). I went to one court date with her for an emergency motion. She wrote a stipulation with her team at Baron Family Law. That was the only positive thing that happened in my case. On February 4, 2026, I received an email from Kelly stating that she would be departing from Baron Family Law within a few weeks of my case starting. On February 4, 2026, I was assigned a new attorney, Jordan Taylor Portfield (#764746). In total, I attended three court dates with Jordan. She did not help much, if at all, during the court proceedings. Jordan spoke less than 20 words and spent most of the time just listening, as if she were in an elementary school classroom. I told Jordan that nothing was being done, but she responded that “everything will be figured out down the road.” She also said that her team needed to receive more money. Jordan would not listen to me or take my side in any way. She kept agreeing that opposing counsel was right and that we should do what they said. I was assigned an attorney who just came out of law school. Jordan would argue on the phone way better than she did in court. DON’T WASTE YOUR’RE MONEY AT THIS CIRCUS THEY ARE CLOWNS WHO WILL ASK FOR THE SAME INFORMATION OVER AND OVER AND WILL SCAM. THESE PEOPLE AT THIS LAW FIRM STRESSED ME OUT MORE THAN MY DIVORCE CASE I WILL BE TAKING THIS UP WITH THE CALIFORNIA BAR.

I spent about $7,000 with this firm and have virtually nothing to show for it on the central issue in my case. The main issue involved determining whether my former spouse was receiving income from a trust. Despite this being identified as a key issue, formal discovery was not pursued early, and i...nterrogatories were sent without requesting important financial information. As a result, key evidence was delayed. There were also serious concerns with document handling. Financial records were produced without properly redacting personal transactions, even though privacy concerns had been clearly discussed beforehand. This led to unnecessary disclosure of private financial information unrelated to the case. After consulting with other attorneys, I learned that several basic discovery steps could have been taken much earlier. I ultimately had to hire another attorney and take additional steps myself just to move the case forward. I also requested a supervisory review of the billing and the return of my remaining retainer balance, but my concerns have not been meaningfully addressed. Advice to others: If you are considering this firm for a family law or divorce matter, ask very specific questions about discovery strategy, billing practices, and whether you will be able to review documents before they are sent out. Based on my experience, I would strongly encourage others to proceed with caution.
