Sue Ann Vandermyden

Sue Ann Van Dermyden is a licensed California attorney, licensed Private Investigator and certified EEOC investigator. Sue Ann has specialized in employment law since 1993. After spending several years litigating employment matters in state and federal courts, Sue Ann’s practice now focuses on conducting workplace investigations; advice and counseling on employment matters; and, employment-related training seminars.

Sue Ann has handled hundreds of workplace investigations on all types of employment matters over the last several years, including claims of discrimination, harassment, retaliation, whistle blowing, substance abuse, threats of violence, assault, sexual assault, theft, fraud, embezzlement, violations of company policies, wage and hour violations, and other forms of alleged misconduct. Sue Ann is experienced in testifying during administrative and judicial proceedings regarding completed investigations. She also provides expert testimony on the adequacy of workplace investigations.

Sue Ann also regularly provides advice and counseling on employment matters. She is skilled in the area of negotiations and resolving matters at the ground level, before any legal intervention is necessary. She regularly lectures on all topics involving employment issues and has written extensively in this area.

Sue Ann’s commitment to and passion for improving the quality of workplace investigations statewide is demonstrated by her role with the California Association of Workplace Investigators (CAOWI). She is a founding member of CAOWI, formed in October 2009, and currently is a Director, Officer and Chair of the Education Committee, as well as a member of the Strategic Planning and Certification Committees, and a Local Circle Convener.

Sue Ann was the founding partner of VanDermyden Block, Attorneys At Law, formed in 2006. She is a former partner of Hanson Bridgett Marcus Vlahos & Rudy. Most recently in September 2010 she formed Van Dermyden Allison Law Corporation.

Sue Ann grew up on a fifth generation farm in North Dakota and graduated from Wahpeton High School in 1983. She moved to California and attended California State University, Chico, where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science with a minor in Business Administration in 1990. She attended University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law and received her Juris Doctor in 1993.
