Serena Mercedes Sanders

Since joining Angelo, Kilday & Kilduff, LLP in early 2010, Ms. Warner has managed a diverse case load involving defamation, excessive force, and personal injury allegations, nuisance regulations, constitutional challenges to gun control regulations and a number of employment cases where age, religious, and/or disability discrimination, harassment, or retaliation, was alleged.  Ms. Warner is developing an emphasis in employment litigation and defense against wage claims, DFEH complaints, SLAPP suits, and vexatious pro per litigation.  Ms. Warner has argued dispositive motions before the Northern and Eastern District of California courts.  Her successful defense of a local gun permitting policy in federal court received national attention and was recently affirmed in an en banc decision by the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.   Ms. Warner and Ms. Kilduff successfully tried a ten-week age discrimination trial in Sacramento Superior Court in 2014 and second-chaired an eight-week wrongful termination trial in Solano Superior Court in 2016.

Ms. Warner is a California-native, raised locally in Elk Grove, CA. She received her bachelor of arts with high honors from the University of California Santa Barbara and graduated law school, cum laude, from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law. In law school, she maintained a wide-variety of interests. She served as President of the “Pilipino” American Law Society, Senior Articles Editor of the Hastings Race and Poverty Law Journal, and competed at the Wagner Labor Law Competition as a member of the moot court team. She is a member of the Filipino American Bar Association of Northern California and Federal Bar Association, and volunteers her time coaching the Mira Loma High School Moot Court Team for the annual Sacramento County Gordon D. Schaber Moot Court Competition.  Ms. Warner has been enjoying the last several months as a new mom.  One of these days she hopes to find time to get on the bike, go to yoga, crochet, and start brewing beer again.
