Elizabeth A Handelin

I currently work for La Follettte, Johnson, De Haas, Fesler & Ames, a California wide firm.  I work out of the Northern California office.  My current practice focuses mostly on medical malpractice defense, HIPAA, contractual disputes (including indemnity issues) and other general business litigation.  I have cases in both state and federal court, and also do appeals work.  I represent many types of clients, but most recently have represented several hospitals and doctors including psychiatrists with their various legal problems.  In the past I have worked in several other different areas of litigation as well, including intellectual property, professional liability, construction, employment law, ERISA law, and real estate.

I am a member of the State Bar of California, and I am admitted to all Federal District Courts in the state including the Northern, Southern, Eastern and Central Districts of California, as well as the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals. I am also a registered attorney with the United States Patent and Trademark Office, however I do not generally provide patent prosecution services, but am happy to litigate a patent matter.

I received my Bachelor of Science degree from the University of California, Los Angeles in 2001.  My degree was in Cybernetics with a primary focus on Computer Science and Electrical Engineering.  I worked as an engineer for several years prior to law school.  I received my J.D. in 2010 from the George Washington University Law School in Washington, D.C.
