also known as Andy Benzinger
What are your goals, and how can I get you there as efficiently as possible? And step back for a second: big picture, what is going on here? (A little further back) Can, and how can this either be resolved so everyone gains, or so it does not happen again?
And if none of that works, litigation it is! I am happy to sink my teeth into both a contentious deposition and an appeal, in the same day.
Self-assessed;
Pros: Blunt, reasonable, reputation. I hold ethical duties in very high regard. Bluntness has certainly prevented many a potential client from retaining me, but I know of none who later obtained better results than I predicted.
Cons: Careful, demands honesty, demands true full authority for settlement demands and offers I issue. The former can increase short-term expense (if research is needed, etc.), but I think this is balanced by decreased long-term risk ("belt and suspenders"). The latter means that I will not issue threats or demands on which I don't have authority to follow through.
What I look for in a client: Honesty, and do we get along? We are going to be working closely at times, and if I dispise you or your approach, it's not going to work.
I Am Not An Appellate Specialist. I don't know why some of my posts state I'm an "Appeals Lawyer," and I've spoken with Avvo about it. Just for clarity...

Open and Brutally Honest
Asked an attorney friend for a recommendation when I received papers alleging breach of contract and lis pendens involving the sale of my home. Of the four recommendations, I narrowed it down to Mr. Benzinger. Best choice I could have made. A blend of James Spader and Andy Griffith, he was effective...

restored my faith in legal system
I have been going though a difficult and prolonged case and fired my previous attorney. Andy has restored my faith in the legal system. He is honest, smart and ethical. He always kept me up to date on how issues were progressing, something my previous lawyer failed miserably at. He gave me realistic ...
With a slight nod to Mr. J. Doohan, I pride myself on delivering the worst news possible. In fact, you will not get worse news from anyone else. If you do, I want their number: that is MY job. While I can be glib (see self review), I am accurate. Thank you very much, B! You were a pleasure to work for.
"Counsel Benzinger has a very straight forward approach in his participation in the forums here at AVVO. If you are in his area and want someone who will give you what you need to hear and not placate you with with you hope you'll hear, Andrew Benznger should be high up on your must consider list."
"The answers of Mr. Benzinger are accurate, analytic and customized to the need of the Avvo asker. His answers are like his statement in his profile: "What are your goals and how can I get you there as efficiently as possible." These are exactly the qualities that every client would look for when hiring an attorney."
"I endorse this lawyer. I have know Andy for over 10 years. He is one of the brightest and able lawyers I have ever had the pleasure working with. He has a ton of integrity and will always work hard to attempt to achieve the best result's he can for his clients."
