Matthew is a native to California and grew up in Cloverdale, CA – a small town in Northern Sonoma County. Matthew moved to Sacramento in 2004 to attend Sacramento State where he earned his degree in Criminal Justice. While at Sacramento State, Matthew worked at the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the Eastern District of California. There, he worked in the Victim Witness Unit managing the Victim Notification System and assisted with the Human Trafficking Taskforce. This was his first experience in the legal field, and he enjoyed the experience of helping victims and witnesses but decided it was time to move on. He then began working in the bankruptcy and debt relief field representing debtors where he worked as a case manager for two separate law firms.
In 2010, Matthew decided to attend law school locally at Lincoln Law School in Sacramento. Matthew worked while attending law school as a bankruptcy case manager and as an intern for a criminal defense attorney. After graduating and passing the bar exam, he landed a job at a bankruptcy firm with locations in the Bay Area, Sacramento, Roseville, and Oregon. Matthew handled all of the firm’s bankruptcy filings in the Eastern District of California and was also involved in the firm’s litigation department which filed lawsuits for various creditor violations under the Fair Credit Reporting Act and the Telephone Consumer Protection Act. After 2 ½ years at the firm, Matthew left in hopes of branching out and gaining experience in other areas of law. Matthew then worked and handled personal injury and criminal defense cases. In January of 2019, Matthew teamed up with Joshua Stutz and formed Stutz Law Office, P.C. focusing mainly on family law and debt relief.
Matthew is constantly researching new technologies in the legal field that can help in streamlining the process for both the firm and for clients. Stutz Law Office is focused on making the process as easy and stress free as possible for clients during one of the most difficult times in their life.
