also known as MTZ Legal
I manage MTZ Legal, a boutique law firm serving the El Dorado County, Sacramento County, Placer County, and surrounding areas. We practice 100% family law, such as divorce—especially if involving complicated, high-asset financial issues, child custody and support, as well as parentage cases and post-judgment modifications.
I went to law school at the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law, where I graduated "with great distinction." I am also a graduate of, and former faculty at, Gerry Spence's Trial Lawyers College, which is considered one of the most prestigious and selective trial advocacy colleges in America. An issue very dear and near to my heart, I am committed to promote diversity in the legal profession, being one of the first American Bar Association Family Law Section Diversity Fellows, and a CLEO/Thurgood Marshall distinguished alumna. I currently serve on Council at the American Bar Association, Section of Family Law, and manage the Section’s Diversity Fellowship program.
Since I joined the legal field over 15 years ago, I have successfully helped numerous clients, both women and men, often at the hardest time in their lives. From low-income Spanish speaking individuals in Sacramento, to successful business owners in Auburn, Placerville and El Dorado Hills, I have effectively represented my clients' interests both in and out of court.
Born and raised in Uruguay, South America, I am fluent in both Spanish and English, having received a degree in English from the Cambridge University. My undergraduate and graduate studies were in chemistry and pharmacy at the Universidad de la Republica, in Montevideo, Uruguay. After traveling the world, I chose Northern California, more specifically El Dorado County, as my home.
I am thorough and pay great attention to detail. I will listen to you, take the time to identify your concerns and lay out a clear strategy to accomplish your goals. Responsiveness to my clients is one of my highest priorities. I hear I am thoughtful and compassionate, yet tough and assertive. I will use my training in mediation and collaborative practice when possible, but will aggressively protect your interests in the courtroom when necessary.
In my free time, I enjoy traveling, running, mountain biking and playing golf with my husband, Dave.
I prefer Windows over Mac, and I own an Android smartphone. :-)
