Not likely. The insurance company provided a service, and that's done. The court is generally immune.

Unless there are additional facts not reported, this is not allowed under California labor law. Your wages must be good when presented.

You really need to meet with a business attorney. There are multiple issues here, not just with insurance.

If your intet is to keep ownership of the design, you should put that in your contract to avoid any doubt. It should spell out what are permitted...
