CONSTRUCTION ACCIDENT $650,000 SETTLEMENT FOR SPRINKLER MECHANIC Ronald Ingber obtained a $650,000 settlement for our client, a 36 year old fire sprinkler mechanic, who was injured in a construction ... accident in New York County. Our client, employed as a fire sprinkler mechanic, was working on the renovation project of the entire building at 256 West 108th Street in Manhattan, New York. The owners of the building hired a contractor to perform structural steel work and to be the general contractor on the job, to supervise, manage, oversee and coordinate all of the work being done on the property. Also working on the property were sheetrock installers and plumbers. The sheetrock installers were working on the sixth and the seventh floors of the building. While sheetrock had been installed in some sections of the sixth floor it was not completely done. On July 21, 2008, our client, was working with another employee of the fire sprinkler company carrying sprinkler pipes up the staircase of the building between the fifth and sixth floors when a large piece of sheetrock, approximately 4 feet by 6 feet, fell from the seventh floor above, striking our client causing him to fall to the ground. We alleged the Defendants violated Sections 200, 240, and 241 of the New York State Labor Laws. As a result of this accident our client sustained severe injuries and underwent knee surgery. On the eve of trial, the case settled for $650,000.

The facts of the case involve our client crossing the street in front of his home in Nassau County when he was struck by Defendant’s vehicle. As a result, our client suffered a concussion and right ankle fracture requiring surgery. Defendant's argued that our client failed to cross in a crosswalk, jumped out into oncoming traffic from between cars and failed to look both ways before crossing the street. On the eve of trial, Ronald Ingber resolved the matter for $375,000.

SILER & INGBER, LLP partner Ronald Ingber obtained a $1,100,000 settlement at trial in a case involving a 64 year old man who was struck by a pallet jack while at work. During the discovery phase of th ... e case, numerous depositions were conducted and Mr. Ingber successfully opposed defendant's motion for summary judgment bringing to light the multiple departures committed by the defendant who owned the pallet jack. Mr. Ingber asserted that the defendant negligently entrusted the pallet jack and failed to properly train and/or supervise those who utilized the dangerous instrumentality. As a result of the accident, the client injured his knee and back. His knee sustained a torn meniscus requiring arthroscopic surgery and in his back a herniated lumbar disc requiring a discectomy. Mr. Ingber settled the case for $1,100,000 at trial in Kings County Supreme Court.

SILER & INGBER partner Ronald Ingber obtained a $2,250,000 settlement for our client, a 72-year old salesman, who was injured in a bus accident in Manhattan. While walking his dog in the crosswalk of a ... n intersection in the City of New York, our client, a pedestrian, was struck by a New York City Bus. The New York City bus was making a left turn and ran over our client with its front left tire. Through diligent and aggressive discovery efforts, including canvasing the neighborhood, Ronald Ingber successfully obtained this video of the accident showing that our client walked past the bus before it turned and thereafter the bus struck our client while our client was in the crosswalk and more than halfway across the street. As a result of the defendants' negligence, our client broke multiple bones in his left leg requiring numerous surgeries. Thankfully, the surgeons saved our client's leg and he now walks very well and has returned to an active lifestyle. During the pretrial litigation, Ronald Ingber obtained summary judgment on the issue of liability against the bus driver and the City of New York. As the case went along, Defendants began making low-ball offers, however, attorney Ronald Ingber rejected these offers and remained aggressive on the path to trial. It was on the eve of trial when Ronald Ingber settled this case against the City of New York for $2,250,000.
