John Alexander Kelly

John Kelly has been in private practice as an attorney in Sonoma since 2003, handling trust administration, probate litigation, estate planning, business law, intellectual property, and real estate matters. Over 22 years of practice, John has represented clients in contested trust administration matters, probate disputes, and conservatorships, and has prepared comprehensive estate plans for individuals, couples, and families. John's practice also includes business formation and transactions, intellectual property matters, and real estate disputes. His work encompasses sophisticated trust litigation, complex statutory compliance issues under California Probate Code, and estate administration.

John graduated from UC Berkeley's law school in 2002, where he was Co-Editor in Chief of the Berkeley Journal of Criminal Law and earned the Jurisprudence Award in Copyright Law. John graduated from UCLA in 1997 with degrees in History and Political Science, earning his Bachelor's degree in three years.

John is affiliated with the Richard M. Sangster American Inn of Court, the Sonoma County Bar Association, and the Sonoma County Democratic Central Committee. John previously served as Trustee of the Sonoma Valley Unified School District (2016-2024), Chair of the Endorsements Committee for the Sonoma County Democratic Central Committee (2019-2025), Chair of the Business & IP Section and Board of Directors of the Sonoma County Bar Association (2020-2023), Sonoma County Membership Chair for the Sangster Inn of Court (2020-2023), and Chair of the City of Sonoma Budget Advisory Committee (2005-2006) and Community Services & Environment Commission (2004-2006).

Before becoming an attorney, John developed technical expertise working as a webmaster for a software startup and as a web developer for a commercial finance company.
