Angela Najd Carter

Angela Carter Brown attended the University of California, Irvine, graduating in 1990. She earned two Bachelor of Arts degrees, one in social ecology and another in philosophy.

After completing her undergraduate degrees, Carter Brown entered the prestigious Pepperdine University School of Law and obtained her Juris Doctor degree in 1993. She passed the California Bar exam and returned to Northern California.

Once back in Northern California, she began her law career, providing free legal services to Lake County residents while at Redwood Legal Assistance. She then worked for two top-notch civil trial law firms for a few years before taking a contract with the Lake County provider of criminal defense.

Carter Brown is admitted to practice in every court in the State of California as well as the highest court in the land.

In January 2000, she traveled to Washington, DC, where she was admitted to the bar of the United States Supreme Court. Richard Lynn, dean of the Pepperdine University School of Law, made the motion for her admission, which was granted by then-Chief Justice William Rehnquist, who also personally welcomed Carte Briwnr into the Supreme Court Bar.

During her career, Carter Brown has worked on every type of criminal case, from those involving juveniles to homicides — and everything in between. She advanced to running the entire system of indigent defense in Lake County and handled thousands of cases in North Bay Area counties.

Carter Brown has provided exceptional boutique criminal defense services for decades. She has defended many high profile clients, including doctors, elected officials and attorneys, and handled numerous cases that have been featured in local and national news media.

A particular area of focus for Carter Brown has been providing defense and support for veterans who find themselves in the judicial system for reasons including addiction and the long-term impacts of post traumatic stress disorder.

She is a founding team member of Lake County’s Veterans Court and her dedicated service earned her the “Friend of the Veteran Award” at the 2023 Lake County Veterans Day celebration.

Through this broad spectrum of experience, Carter Brown has gained great knowledge about the vast criminal law arena. She also has formed many valuable friendships and working relationships with fellow attorneys, prosecutors, judges, clerks, bailiffs, correctional officers, probation officers, judicial assistants, journalists and government leaders that continue to be of great benefit to her practice today.
